Frogger (aka Kaden)

James eating solids for the first time.

The boys all ready to go for a walk on a cool night, we had to cover them well because of the Mosquitos and this is what we came up with... poor kids, could they be more miss-matched?

So cuddly.

No more swaddle... well I thought

So I signed on just now to write about how excited I am that Kaden is no longer needing to be swaddled and how easily he went down to sleep tonight and then just as got signed on I heard the wailing. Tom is in with him now as James is starting to stir from Kaden's cries, I just could not go in at this time because I'm not in the "right place"... in other words I had a rough day with him and don't think I would be very loving towards him.

Kaden is calming down now, but still wimpering (a huge improvement from the histerical crying from before)... just kidding, here we go again. I guss I should go and attend to him... pray I'm sweet to him.

Small Spaces

We are now a two crib family, we set up the second crib on Labor Day only to realize that we had forgotten one key element... the mattress. Tom went to Babies R Us on his lunch break today to buy a mattress and so tonight we are going to try to put the boys to bed in separate cribs. I am partly excited because they are getting very active these days and end up kicking each other a lot and then wake each other up. But really I'm sad that they are past the stage of sharing a crib. They always look so cute sleeping side by side. I've enclosed a pictures (take today) of the boys napping in their crib together...the last nap together, I've also attached a picture of the two cribs in the room, this should give you an idea of how small their bedroom is, I can just barely walk between the two cribs. This is why we have put our house back on the market, we need to move to a larger house, we obviously don't need a ton of space (as we are used to tight spaces) however we need a bigger room than this. :)

Surviving Twins...

These pictures should say it all...

Last Friday night was a rough one, the boys were not sleeping well and I was up every few hours with them, it was nuts. Tom woke up with me, but there was little he could do since I was nursing the boys while the other one slept.

Eventually Tom took over because James would not go back to sleep after he woke up with a dirty diaper at 4:30am. I went back to sleep and when I woke up at 8 am Tom had both boys fed and dressed for the day, and they were happy playing in their gym. Tom was very anxious to show me the photos he had taken that morning while I slept. Apparently both boys were melting down and he could no longer feed just one at a time, so he got an idea (pictured above)! It ended up working really well, he would pick one up every couple of minutes and burp them, then put them back in their positions. :)

Amy & Zach's Wedding

This weekend was Amy & Zach's wedding, it was a big family affair and a ton of fun. It started out on Friday night with the rehearsal at St. Anne's Church and rehearsal dinner at the Macaroni Grill. The bride and groom looked great and everyone had a good time. They boys were all dressed up for the festivities...

Kaden sacked out at the end of the night

The wedding day was a blast too, it started early in the morning with our hair appointments, then back to the szarawarski house for makeup and getting dressed. The morning was hazy and overcast, which then led to a few thunder storms, but the by the time we left for the church, the sky was blue and the sun shining bright. The boys did really well that day too. Sonja and Jarod took the train out to FairLawn from NYC to watch the boys. Sonja and Jarod took the boys in our car to the hotel and took care of them during the ceremony, then met us at the country club for pictures just before the cocktail hour. It continued to be a beautiful day to the very end. Sonja and Jarod had the boys in a back room during the reception while the rest of us celebrated the night away.

Out for a walk in Cliffwood Beach

One of our favorite times of the day is around 7pm when we put the boys in their bjorns and take them for a walk around our neighborhood. It's great because the boys are totally content and it allow Tom and I to get out of the house and spend some time together talking. Our neighborhood always brings us much to talk about, it is very eclectic and entertaining.

Two nights ago our walk did not disappoint... as we were rounding the corner that marks the half way point in our walk we were greeted by a neighbor we had never met before. This 20 y/o guy pulled up along side of us in his red 1984 Bronco, and started talking. It took Tom and I a few moments to catch up to him in the conversation. I can't remember exactly how the conversation started, but when he said, "I'm thinking about getting myself one of those!" we knew that it was going to be interesting. We were both a little frightened by his comment when we realized that he was talking about a baby when he said "one of those;" Tom later told me that he thought he might have to beat the guy off with the umbrella we had along with us. This guy was asking us about how it was to have a baby, he was not sure he was ready to be a father, but his girlfriend, Oh I mean fiance of 3 years, really wants one! It was such a strange conversation, he also told us his salary, as if that is justification enough to start a family. He later asked us, "how is it with two? I was thinking about getting one, maybe two..." sure buddy, because you usually have a lot of control over that.

The guy soon drove off and we continued our walk, talking and laughing about our surprise visitor. When we were almost home we were greeted by another neighbor, this time a young woman, probably 19 or 20. She was commenting on how cute the boys are and then said that she and her boyfriend, (who we had just met) were thinking of having a baby. She two was hoping to have two!!! This couple was classic!

Lets give this a try

Welcome to the Szarawarski Family blog, I doubt I'll have much time to keep this up, but I figured I'd give it a try, perhaps post stories and pictures of our boys James & Kaden. They were born on May 2nd & 3rd, 2008 and are 3 months old now, they have been really good babies, however today they have given me a run for my money. I'm trying to get them on somewhat of a routine with their naps now that they are past the stage where they sleep all day, but so far today that's been a joke. Surprisingly they are both asleep at the moment, but James has been sleeping for the past hour and a half, and Kaden just fell asleep. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but boy is it hard to get two babies down for a nap at the same time.

I'm not sure why I'm trying so hard to get their routine down this week it's not like it's going to last, this weekend we have a big family wedding, it's going to be a blast and I have some wonderful help for the boys during the wedding and reception, but I know that with all the festivities of the weekend, their routine will be totally obsolete! Not to mention the following week will be filled with preparations for our trip to CA so I won't be able to focus on a routine all that much, and then while we are in CA I know keeping a routine will be a total joke. Oh well, I'm just glad we will be able to bring the boys to CA to meet family. It will be an adventure that's for sure, but I'd rather live life and enjoy this time, than focus too much on having my boys on a perfect routine!
